Edith and Family
First off, I want to thank my beautiful and talented friend Kiwi (Check out her modeling at https://www.instagram.com/kiwi.kildare/ ) for being my model for my new character Edith. She's letting me use her likeness and referencing for this image and future drawings of Edith and I'm SO grateful. She was my first pick and I was so happy when she said yes. Thank you again, I hope you love it!
Now on to Edith. Edith James is female in her early twenties back from the mid 1800’s-1890’s during the settlers migration to the west. Edith and her family- her parents, grandfather, older brother, and younger sister- were one of those families trying to make it to California, but got stuck and stranded in the middle of the Sierra Nevada mountains. They got snowed in and couldn’t escape or get help.
Due to being elderly, freezing cold, and starving the grandfather named Arthur dies. After days of having no food (they ate all their supplies, horses, and even tried the leather of their boots) they made the tough decision to eat grandpa’s corpse to stay alive. The entire family started to change into anthrophagaus (some people also call them wendigos though that is not accurate) over time due to the growing cannibal tumors inside of their skulls- except for Edith. Edith does change though, she develops sharper canines, resistant to the cold, her eyes change to a more yellow color as well as her tongue, longer and sharper claws, heightened sense and strength, longer lifespan, doesn't age, and can heal quickly- but other than that she keeps her human form and intelligence. It’s like she’s infected- but not fully. She also shares with the anthropophagus an insatiable appetite for meat-especially human meat. So Edith and her anthropophagus family go out and murder and eat any humans they find. The infected family sees her as one of them, so they care and hunt with her- which is unusual since anthropophagus spare no humans. Edith still sees them as her family and decides to live with them in the mountains rather than back in civilization. Edith claims she can understand and communicate with her infected family, but it’s unknown if it’s true or just her infected brain making her think that way. The tumor causes her to live an unnatural long life without aging so to this day her and her family are alive and lure people into the mountains to slaughter and devour them. Edith is smart enough to blend in with society when she needs to, but her true self is a feral violent monster that is never satisfied and will stop at nothing to protect her family.
